Holidays and Flash Fiction Contest

Good morning, and Merry Christmas Eve!

The holidays are here, and with them comes a busy schedule for most of us, filled with family get-togethers, Christmas parties, work gatherings and a whole slew of other festivities. Usually, this means less time to write.

However, some of us enjoy time off of work/school and might have a little extra time to slip away and punch the keys or sit at a desk and scribble on paper.

Whichever you choose, I wish a pleasant holiday season for all Short Tale Shrew followers and readers.

I’d like to draw your attention one last time to our Flash Fiction writing contest.

The End is nigh! Well, perhaps that’s a bit of an overstatement, but the final submission deadline is on Dec. 31, 2015 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time.

I’m hoping for a lot of entries in the remaining week! We’ve had a steady stream of stories coming in, which is exciting. It’s my hope that they’ll continue to roll in during the final week of the year! What have you got to lose? For less than a meal at McDonald’s you could be a contest winner, have your work published online, and receive $50! Full contest details are here.

As an extra incentive, each submission received from now until the deadline will receive a page of feedback from a Short Tale Shrew editor. This is your chance to have your work reviewed by a professional and get top-notch advice and constructive criticism from an experienced and published editor. Get those submissions in!

As always, if you have any questions, feel free to email

Have a merry Christmas and a happy New Year!
